Hello, My name is Alan, and I’m the lead radio presenter of My Generation at IPL. Before joining IPL, I was a draftsman, specialising in technical drawings of buildings and architectural projects. Now, semi-retired, I dedicate part of my time to volunteering and sharing my love of music and storytelling through radio
What’s My Generation all about?
My Generation is a podcast that promotes Christian values on the show and offers a sense of encouragement to listeners of all backgrounds. The show features a mix of uplifting music, from Christian tunes to popular hits created in the 1950s-60s. I also invite Christian guests who share their personal and inspiring journeys of faith. I hope that each guest leaves listeners feeling uplifted and connected, providing a sense of encouragement to all.
Hobbies and interests outside of IPL
Outside of IPL, I enjoy my work as a semi-retired draftsman. I spent much of my free time preparing for my shows, finding new songs released in the 1950s to 1970s, and curating them to be added to the radio playlist. I particularly enjoy songs by Carrie Underwood, which often feature on the playlist.
What inspired you to volunteer at IPL?
A few years back, my church pastor posed a powerful question: “If you could do anything you truly loved, what would you do?” Without hesitation, I thought – radio. The very next day, I received a message from Trys inviting me to join IPL. That was four years ago, and while the journey has been challenging, knowing that there is someone out there finds joy or comfort in the show, makes every moment worthwhile. Through music and meaningful conversations, I hope to bring light and connection to those who listen.
